Chalk-Up a Win on the Rocks

It was a great day for baseball. Perfect weather for almost a perfect game. Starting pitcher Christopher "Papo" Rivera took the mound and dominated five-and-two-thirds innings striking out 13 batters, giving up only one hit and one walk.

First inning, first at-bat, first pitch, lead-off batter Rivera hit a hard liner to center field, and even after stumbling rounding first base, went full throttle and a touched 'em all on two Rockies' errors scoring the first run of the game. Tyler Osborne after being dealt a BB scored the second run on a steal at home on a wild pitch. Colton Burrows scored the third run on a bases-loaded RBI BB to Gilbert Garcia. A's were on top 3-0 at the end of the inning.

Second inning, second at-bat, on a 1-0 pitch, Rivera hit an upper-deck solo homerun.

Isaiah Terrazas came in as relief pitcher in the 5th inning and picked up three straight K's on three Rockies' batters. The 6th and final inning, Terrazas struggled to maintain a scoreless inning giving up 4 runs, including 3 hits, a BB and a HBP before retiring the last batter for the 3rd and final out.

A's won 5-4.

Box scores:
Rivera: 2 for 2, HR, 1 IW, 3 Runs. Moreno: 1 for 3, 1B, Run. Terrazas: 1 for 3. Osborne: Run.

Next game: Yankees vs A's Tuesday, April 3 @ 5 p.m.
